Memory Cognition
It’s no secret that memory and longevity are closely linked. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to improve your memory and increase your longevity.
Memory Cognition
- First, make sure you are getting enough sleep. Sleep is essential for memory formation and recall, so be sure to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep each night. Additionally, exercise regularly. Studies have shown that regular exercise can help improve memory and cognitive function.
- Next, try to limit your stress levels. Stress can interfere with memory formation, so try to make time for relaxation and mindfulness activities like yoga, meditation, or journaling. Additionally, eat a healthy diet filled with nutrient-rich foods. Eating a balanced diet can help keep your brain healthy, which can improve your cognitive function.
- Finally, stay socially active. Socialising can help keep your brain active and your mind sharp. So, make an effort to stay in touch with friends and family and to stay involved in activities you enjoy. It has been noted that remaining employed (paid or unpaid), or being engaged in a community or volunteering capacity can help with retaining cognitive function.
If you’re looking for more ways to boost your memory, you can also try memory puzzles like Sudoku and crosswords. These puzzles can help stimulate your brain and keep it active. We do things like completing our crosswords and brushing our teeth with our non-dominant hands. We try to learn new things such as languages and always remain curious about the world and people around us. One recent study demonstrated how wonderful learning new dances is for brain health, that looks to be the next challenge!
By incorporating fun, brain stimulating activities and lifestyle changes into your daily routine, you can improve your cognition function and increase your longevity. Our aim at The Longevity Lab is to guide you in ways that will help you keep your mind sharp and your body healthy for years to come.
